Most Camera and Mic issues in Windows machines are because Here permission to access hardware is accidentally blocked OR because another application is trying to request access to the hardware. Follow the steps below to fix:
- Please quit any app that uses Camera
- Quit and restart your browser
- Ensure that Here access to your Camera and Mic is allowed. In Chrome browser:
- Go to
chrome://settings/content/camera
andchrome://settings/content/microphone
and make sure Here.fm has access to Camera and Mic (you can reset all the permissions if easier)
- Go to
- Go to https://here.fm in your browser. You'll be prompted to grant Here permission to access Camera and Mic. Grant the permission
- If you're on a laptop, make sure the lid is open
If you still have trouble, you must reset your Cache and Cookies for your browser. Follow instructions below to do this:
If you verified permissions, cleared cache, quit and restarted your browser and still have trouble, there most likely is a system level settings conflict. Please do a full system restart of your computer.
If after a full system restart you still have trouble, the issue is on the network level. Please disable any VPN or Firewall. You can run the following tests in your browser to determine if you face a network issue:
- Full WebRTC test—this test takes about 40 seconds and will check your network to ensure your computer can connect with a WebRTC service. Please go to https://www.webcasts.com/webrtc/ and hit "Start Test" at the bottom of the page
- If anything is Red, your network is most likely the problem. Try switching networks (tether to your phone, find a different network or hotspot) to see if you can connect
- There also could be a Firewall or VPN issue. Please disable any VPNs or Firewalls. Ping us at help@here.fm for more assistance
- Mic Test—this test takes about 3 seconds and will check to make sure your Mic connects to your browser. Please go to https://www.onlinemictest.com/ and run the test. If the test fails, quit and restart your browser to resolve
- Speaker Test—this test takes about 3 seconds and will check to make sure your speakers connect to your browser. Please go to https://www.onlinemictest.com/sound-test/ and run the test. If the test fails, quit and restart your browser to resolve
